Fantasy Monthly is a newly emerging book subscription box created to be affordable and built on the idea of creating a community of like-minded bookish individuals who want to discuss the books chosen for the box.
Items Included
- Quote print from the featured book House of Salt and Sorrows — I loved this. Quote prints and items that have high photography potential are my favorite bookish items. They are easy to store and a great way to represent the book. This one is very pretty and I liked the quote.
- Bookmarks designed by MidnightBookGirl_ (Sasha) — I love that Fantasy Monthly featured items designed by a fellow member of the bookish community. Sasha makes lovely bookmarks and she is an avid reader (from what I’ve seen over her blog and Instagram). For me, it was nice to know that these quotes were not chosen randomly, but rather by someone who truly treasures reading. These are both pretty and not over the top. Simple and elegant. A great choice for this box.
- House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig — I was super excited that this book was chosen for August 2019. I specifically did not preorder it for that very reason. That’s another major bonus of this box, the book is announced in advance. This really helps me avoid duplicate purchases.
- Discussion card and invitation to the Facebook group — This was probably my favorite part of this box. I love that Fantasy Monthly is cultivating a community. I loved that this box inspires you to think critically about what you just read.
I was very happy with the August 2019 pick. This is a book that I might not have read on my own if it hadn’t been for Fantasy Monthly. I knew about this book, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to read it until it was chosen as the book of the month.

Ohh looks like a cool box!

This was a really good one! I loved the art prints and bookmarks this month and the book also came with a signed bookplate (not pictured).
