Title We Hunt the Flame
Author Hafsah Faizal
Description from Amazon
People lived because she killed. People died because he lived.
Zafira is the Hunter, disguising herself as a man when she braves the cursed forest of the Arz to feed her people. Nasir is the Prince of Death, assassinating those foolish enough to defy his autocratic father, the sultan. If Zafira was exposed as a girl, all of her achievements would be rejected; if Nasir displayed his compassion, his father would punish him in the most brutal of ways. Both Zafira and Nasir are legends in the kingdom of Arawiya―but neither wants to be.
War is brewing, and the Arz sweeps closer with each passing day, engulfing the land in shadow. When Zafira embarks on a quest to uncover a lost artifact that can restore magic to her suffering world and stop the Arz, Nasir is sent by the sultan on a similar mission: retrieve the artifact and kill the Hunter. But an ancient evil stirs as their journey unfolds―and the prize they seek may pose a threat greater than either can imagine.
Preorder Gift
I am obsessed with the preorder incentive for this book. The trading cards are beautiful and they photograph so well. I love when publishers and authors offer preorder incentives.
Also, as an added bonus, the cards feature the official artwork accociated with the book. The same images came on a bigger art print in the May 2019 OwlCrate Box. I love that the images match.
I have read the first Act in the book so far and I was able to easily identify which image belongs to which character for 3 out of 5 cards.
In order from left to right:
- Zafira
- Altair
- Nasir
- Unknown – maybe Deen (but almost too much of a semi-evil look in his eye for Deen)
- Unknown – I’m thinking she hasn’t been introduced yet
Overall, I think this was a great preorder gift. It was easy for the publisher to manufacture and ship and it makes such a cool companion to the book. I wish more books offered incentives like this (I basically preorder everything).
