Title We Hunt the Flame
Author Hafsah Faizal
Description from Amazon
People lived because she killed. People died because he lived.
Zafira is the Hunter, disguising herself as a man when she braves the cursed forest of the Arz to feed her people. Nasir is the Prince of Death, assassinating those foolish enough to defy his autocratic father, the sultan. If Zafira was exposed as a girl, all of her achievements would be rejected; if Nasir displayed his compassion, his father would punish him in the most brutal of ways. Both Zafira and Nasir are legends in the kingdom of Arawiya―but neither wants to be.
War is brewing, and the Arz sweeps closer with each passing day, engulfing the land in shadow. When Zafira embarks on a quest to uncover a lost artifact that can restore magic to her suffering world and stop the Arz, Nasir is sent by the sultan on a similar mission: retrieve the artifact and kill the Hunter. But an ancient evil stirs as their journey unfolds―and the prize they seek may pose a threat greater than either can imagine.

Original Cover
I like this cover. I don’t love it, I think the images are a little dull as compared to the preorder gift artwork. I wish those had been used instead.
Shelf Love Crate Cover
I love this cover. The colors, the designs, the typography. This is the original ARC cover and I really think the publisher should have stuck with it. It’s rich and captivating. This story didn’t need images on the cover. The description is enough to draw you in.
OwlCrate Cover
OwlCrate is famous for designing alternate covers for new releases so I was very excited to see what they came up with for We Hunt the Flame. I was quite disappointed to discover that it was only a slight change in the font color. While the silver makes a nice accent, I have the same issues with this cover as I do with the original.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Shelf Love Crate cover was by far the best. That’s the one that I have turned out on my shelf at home. That’s the one I’d want to photograph. I hope that’s the one they use as inspiration for the next book.
