In case you didn’t know, Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan left me totally destroyed at the end. That ending was so amazing and rich with cliffhangers I almost couldn’t stand it. But, there is a glimmer of hope as Emily A. Duncan just revealed on Instagram that Something Dark and Holy #2 is going to be called Ruthless Gods and, WE HAVE COVER ART!
I’m obsessed with the blood red writing on this cover and that the dripping in the “O” of GODS matches the drip from Wicked Saints.
I so desperately hope that one of the bookish boxes does an alternative cover of this too because I can see some kind of reverse color scheme being really beautiful. I’m thinking a white building and trees with black background still accented with that gorgeous red.
I also love the title of this book. Side note, I love the word “ruthless”. My middle name is Ruth and when I was little, I thought ruthless meant, without Ruth — as if Ruth was a person. Basically, I just really like the word because I thought it was made for my name.
Special note: When I Googled “Ruthless Gods by Emily A. Duncan”, my review of Wicked Saints came up on the first page!! Excuse me while I geek out as a blogger!
Description from Goodreads
Darkness never works alone…
Nadya doesn’t trust her magic anymore. Serefin is fighting off a voice in his head that doesn’t belong to him. Malachiasz is at war with who–and what–he’s become.
As their group is continually torn apart, the girl, the prince, and the monster find their fates irrevocably intertwined. They’re pieces on a board, being orchestrated by someone… or something. The voices that Serefin hears in the darkness, the ones that Nadya believes are her gods, the ones that Malachiasz is desperate to meet—those voices want a stake in the world, and they refuse to stay quiet any longer.

I only just realized the cover was released, like, yesterday! I really like that they went with the dripping red theme. It’s so ominous and lovely. That’s a great title, too! I love your story about Ruthless. It’s hilarious and too cute.

Thank you! I’m so excited for this release. I’m super guilty of judging books by covers and this one looks amazing based on what the publisher released the other day!

I’m pretty sure whoever came up with the whole “don’t judge a book by its cover” was clearly responding to a super early Twitter tag, #ThingsNoOneHasSaidEver. XD Because everybody does it lol.
