Bookish News – Hunger Games Prequel

Yesterday, it was announced that one of my favorite dystopian series of all time is getting a new book. A prequel! I can’t wait to finally get some background on how Panem became the civilization that we saw in the Hunger Game trilogy.

Some Things I’d Like to See

  • How did Panem get to the state we saw in the Hunger Games?
  • Where is Panem? I always thought of is as the United States after some kind of disaster but that doesn’t have to be the case. It could be anywhere so I’d like some context (although, I probably won’t get it).
  • How far back is this story going? Will we see an origin story? Or will this be Haymitch’s time in the games? I’m ok with either one of these but I want some clarity.
  • Just because this is a prequel doesn’t mean we can’t get some sequel nods. Tell me how Katniss is doing. Show me a glimpse of the future so I know she’s doing ok.
