Hype Post – Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco

Title Escaping from Houdini (Stalking Jack the Ripper #2)

Author Kerri Maniscalco

Description from Amazon

Embarking on a week-long voyage across the Atlantic on the opulent RMS Etruria, Audrey Rose Wadsworth and her partner-in-crime-investigation, Thomas Cresswell, are delighted to discover a traveling troupe of circus performers, fortune tellers, and a certain charismatic young escape artist entertaining the first-class passengers nightly.

But privileged young women begin to go missing without explanation, and a series of brutal slayings shocks the entire ship. The strange and disturbing influence of the Moonlight Carnival pervades the decks as the murders grow more and more bizarre. It’s up to Audrey Rose and Thomas to piece together the gruesome investigation before more passengers die before reaching their destination. But with clues to the next victim pointing to someone she loves, can Audrey Rose unravel the mystery before the killer’s horrifying finale?

Notes About the Description

I love that we are changing setting again and I’m super excited that Audrey Rose and Thomas are making their way to America.  I know the last book is about the Chicago World’s Fair so I’m glad to see that this book is bridging the gap between Romania and the US.  I also love that Liza casually mentioned knowing a fascinating magician in Hunting Prince Dracula and I’m hoping she was alluding to Houdini himself who should be approximately their age.

Also, can we talk about Moonlight Carnival — my imagination is saying a murderous version of Caraval and what could be better than that?

Reading Plans

I haven’t had a chance to start this one yet (because I’ve been working too late).  [Insert shame bell]  I want to start this one tomorrow night and hopefully, have it finished by Saturday morning to get my review out to the world so we can talk about this series!

I am super excited to read this one.

Stay tuned for my review!
