May the Fourth – A New Hope

Since today is May 4th, I wanted to do some recommendations based on the plots of the Star Wars series.  Please note, these will all be YA books.

Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope

This is the original Star Wars film – the movie that started it all.  To me, it is all about the beginnings of a rebellion.  A movement that started from just a spark of hope and burned into something that would change the universe.

• Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch – Like A New Hope, this is the story of a rebellion held together by a very small amount of hope.  Like Luke, Meira finds that she is much more pivotal to this rebellion than she ever realized.
• The Queen’s Rising by Rebecca Ross – This is another story of a rebellion that our main character, Brienna, didn’t even realize was happening.  She not only finds her place among the rebels, she discovers that she is much more important than she ever knew.
• Empress of All Seasons by Emiko Jean – Lastly, this is a story of a rebellion that started during the story.  Mari sees the injustice around her and like Princess Leia, wants to use her position to right the wrongs she witnessed.
